Certified Peer Specialist Certification Training in April/May 2023

Dickinson Center, Inc. & North Central PA Health Care and Social Assistance Industry Partnership implemented by Workforce Solutions are hosting a Certified Peer Specialist Certification Training. CPS Certification Training is a 75-hour training.

The training provides foundational knowledge, skills, and values that equip individuals to work as Peer Supporters in the state of PA.

All Applicants:

Must be at least 18 years old
Have received or are receiving mental health services for serious mental illness
Identify as an individual in recovery and be willing to share their experience of recovery
Have a GED or High School Diploma
Completed at least 12 months of paid or volunteer work or 24 credit hours within in the past three (3)

These are requirements of PA Certification Board (PCB)

Costs for Elk/Cameron, Potter, Forest/Warren, Clearfield/Jefferson and McKean counties: "Agencies are responsible to pay for 25% of the cost ($450.00) per employee/participant. 75% of the costs for the training and fees are provided by the North Central PA Healthcare and Social Assistance Industry Partnership implemented by Workforce Solutions"

Kindergarten Readiness Program Dates & Locations 2023

Dickinson Center's Children's Prevention Services offer their Kindergarten Readiness Program to all incoming kindergarten students within the St. Marys Area and Johnsonburg Area School Districts.

This program is free of charge, designed to enhance the skills your child needs for success in the coming school year and transition into Kindergarten.

The Kindergarten Readiness Program provides your child with an advantage by promoting:

Friendships with future classmates
Familiarity with their new school, classroom rules, and routines
Cooperation with peers and adults
Learning in a classroom setting
Letter, number, and sound recognition
Fine and gross motor skills
Proper handwriting techniques
Communication and social skills

This program runs 2 days per week for 2.5 hours per day. AM and PM options available.

PAT Storytime Walk

Join Dickinson Center's Parents as Teachers program for a Storytime Walk on Thursday, August 10th, 2023 at 11am-2pm & 3pm-6pm at Olson Park in Ridgway. For more info or to register, call 814.834.2602. Free book and prize!

This event is FREE to Elk County families with children 5 years of age and younger. Older siblings are welcome to tag along! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration not required, but recommended.

!!! Please be cautious when parking! This park is located in a residential neighborhood. Scan QR code on flyer for a map of the area.

Community participants include: Ridgway Parks Revitalization Program, Keystone Rural Health Consortia, Big Maple Farms Natural Therapies, Brandy Camp Creamery, Johnsonburg Public Library.

Run, hike, or walk a 5K trail or path of your choosing on the weekend of July 21-23, 2023. Submit a screenshot of the trail you used with your time to Rita Kraus. More details can be found on the registration form below.

T-shirts or water bottles will be given to all pre-registered participants. All pre-registrations must be in by NOON on JULY 14^th_, 2023.
